- Design camera and optical systems of various types, understanding critical optical technologies such as lens specification, aberrations, calibration, color balance, aperture, exposure, gain, motion-induced blur, and lighting.
- Explore other active and passive sensing modalities such as structured light, stereo, lidar, radar, x-ray, infrared, and RFID.
- Engage with all types of customers ranging from executives to developers and warehouse operations staff.
- Work in a fast-paced environment where delivery time for new products and features is typically measured in months.
- Collaborate with scientists and non-technical customers to help them achieve their goals.
- Data collection and optical design skills
- Experience in machine vision and prototyping
- BS degree in electrical engineering, optics, or vision systems
- 4 years of experience in hardware development, specifically in developing digital optical and machine vision systems for industrial applications
- Strong interest in learning customer requirements in the data collection space
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to develop data collection software (sensor interface) for experimental and prototyping purposes
- Ability to design, acquire, and prototype sensing systems
- MS or PhD in electrical engineering, optics, or vision systems
- Experience with multi-sensor systems and non-optical sensing systems
- Familiarity with computer vision and machine learning
