POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY :
Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to the operation and maintenance of parks, buildings, facilities, fixtures, vehicles, vessels, equipment, parking areas, pathways, and grounds, and performs related duties as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS :
The Maintenance Mechanic I performs varied, moderately complex work under general supervision according to pre-defined guidelines.
Essential Functions
+ Performs visual examinations and/or operational tests to determine the need for routine repair or maintenance of buildings, roofs, plumbing fixtures, concrete fixtures, mechanical and electrical systems, and HVAC systems;
+ Records type of repair or cost of maintenance and repair work;
+ Performs a variety of minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting tasks;
+ Uses a variety of hand and power tools;
+ Repairs and maintains structures;
+ Maintains grounds: mows, weeds, rakes, cuts and prunes bushes, plants flowers
