What to Expect in This Role:

  • Set up, calibrate, maintain, and operate a variety of manual machining equipment (including lathes, mills, presses, and grinders) to fabricate and repair complex aerospace components.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and FAA-approved specifications to determine machining and welding requirements.
  • Perform advanced welding and torch brazing on aerospace alloys (nickel, cobalt, titanium) and dissimilar metals, adhering to strict tolerances and FAA standards.
  • Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify part dimensions and ensure conformance to specs.
  • Plan sequences of operations and determine proper methods to achieve structural integrity in complex assemblies.
  • Maintain valid MIL Spec and AWS D17.1 certifications and ensure all work is documented per quality and FAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to adjust and finalize procedures, resolve challenges, and support program development.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical irregularities, analyze root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
  • Travel occasionally to customer sites or other StandardAero facilities, and work overtime as needed.
  • Observe all safety, environmental, and quality assurance protocols, contributing to a safe and compliant work environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of TIG and MIG welding experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Completion of machinist apprenticeship, trade certification, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in machine shop operations (including mills, lathes, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical documents

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted (approx. 25% of the workday)
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stretch, climb, and perform manual labor for extended periods
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Capable of working in various weather conditions and shop environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with hand tools and measuring devices
  • Strong mathematical and spatial reasoning skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Understanding of FAA regulatory compliance and quality documentation
  • Valid AWS-D17.1 welding certification
  • Experience working in aerospace MRO or FAA-regulated manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with metallurgy, heat treatment, and aerospace welding standards
  • Experience working with dissimilar metals and high-temp alloys
  • Previous experience interacting with OEMs and engineering departments
