Come join our team of skilled Maintenance Technician! We are expanding our Maintenance Department and looking to add experienced technicians to our Plant 3 team. In this role, you will perform preventative and reactive maintenance on printing and finishing machines, support equipment and components, and general building maintenance. Hours:

  • Night Shift, 4:00pm - 4:00am
  • 3 day on, 4 days off; days rotate every 4 months but hours remain the same
    • Sunday - Tuesday or Wednesday - Friday

Summary

Performs preventative and reactive maintenance on printing and finishing machines, support equipment and components, and general building maintenance. Participates in root cause analysis.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
  2. Perform regular scheduled Preventive Maintenance on printing and finishing machines, support equipment, auxiliary components, and general building maintenance.
  3. Respond to reactive/unscheduled requests of production equipment focusing on minimizing down time by diagnosing problems, replacing, repairing parts, testing, and making adjustments or calibrations.
  4. Use electrical test instruments including multimeter, amp meter, scope meter, and thermal imager to troubleshoot/repair equipment.
  5. Disassemble machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
  6. Create and complete assigned work orders generated by the CMMS program.
  7. Document all machine malfunctions to track machine efficiency.
  8. Interpret electrical print/schematics, including symbol ID location, PLC card I/O controls, within various types of prints associated with North American, European, and Asian manufacturers.
  9. Contribute to creation of process documentation and quality work instruction.
  10. Participate in Continuous Improvement root cause analysis initiatives to increase equipment platform performance.
  11. Evaluate and provide feedback to optimize preventative maintenance plans.
  12. Follow safety policy and procedures to include, but not limited to, lock out-tag-out.
  13. May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  14. Properly dispose of waste ink, spent solvents, and other designated waste according to hazardous waste handling guidelines

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  1. Requires eight (8) years of electro-mechanical experience, or four (4) years of electro-mechanical experience with an associate degree in electro-mechanical technology or similar.
  2. Work cohesively with team members to achieve departmental goals.
  3. Ability to lead, develop, and support small teams.
  4. Manage and complete equipment related projects on time.
  5. Possess excellent electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  6. Experienced in a manufacturing/production environment.
  7. Support leadership in the event of absence.
  8. Must be able to communicate and work effectively within maintenance team and with internal customers.
  9. Must be familiar with AC and DC circuits, low voltage through 480v three phase power.
  10. Office software and computer navigation skills.
  11. Must be able to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action.
  12. Must be able to resolve problems and make effective decisions under pressure.
  13. Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
  14. Ability to give, receive and analyze information.
  15. Ability to meet deadlines. May be required to work some overtime.
  16. Knowledge of and the ability to speak the English language fluently.
  17. Ability to read, comprehend, and follow implicit and explicit written and oral instructions.
  18. Ability to use hands for 100% of work time (e.g. wrenches, screw drivers, drills, etc.); and reach above shoulders for 25% of work time.
  19. Ability to: stand and walk for 75% of work time; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for 25% of work time.
  20. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds or less 30% of work time, up to 50 pounds or less 15% of work time and up to 75 pounds or less 15% of work time.
  21. Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or less, or 20 feet or more and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
  22. May lift up to 100 pounds.

Working Conditions

  1. Work near moving mechanical parts.
  2. Nearly constant exposure to vibrations, noise, strobe/flashing light and chemical odors.
  3. Work in high, precarious places.
  4. May work in outside weather conditions.
