Summary:
The construction manager leads a team of construction professionals within a defined area to ensure the safe, efficient, and on-time/on-budget execution of construction activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:- Know and adhere to company policies and procedures, industry practices, construction standards, welding procedures, and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Manage the daily activities, roles, and responsibilities of direct reports (Construction Supervisors), Construction Contractors, and Construction Inspectors so projects are completed safely, successfully and objectives are achieved.
- Manage the bid process, contractor selection, and service provider use to ensure cost effectiveness and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Manage multiple simultaneous projects from assignment to completion, on time and on budget and in regulatory compliance.
- Manage hot taps and stopple installations.
- Maintain compliance with Safety SOPs by contractors and employees.
- Interact effectively with team members and customers.
- Manages, coordinates, and monitors all aspects of capital project construction, including pipelines, compressor stations, dehydration facilities, and processing facilities.
- Plans and coordinates construction activity, material delivery, staffing plans and all work involving construction crews and inspectors for assigned projects.
- Identify, train, and manage qualified inspectors (as per ETP QAM guidelines) for construction projects.
- Monitors construction expenses and provides routine updates to the project manager.
- Works closely with the Project Engineering team to effectively manage changes to the scope and/or design of projects during construction. Provides timely feedback to contractors during the change process to ensure efficient production. Manages the change order process per the ETP construction contract.
- Works closely with the Project Management team in the development of project scope and bid exhibits before bid meetings.
- Detailed knowledge of company policies and procedures, industry practices, construction standards, welding procedures, and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Prepare and submit completion reports, job books, etc.
- Ensure project objectives, including safety, environmental, security, quality, schedule, cost controls, and community relations, are met during the construction phase.
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 8 years experience in a supervisory or lead role with a construction team.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in pipeline operations and maintenance with a thorough knowledge of operations, construction, and maintenance of facilities.
- Strong understanding of the execution of construction contracts
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience building and operating pigging facilities, dehydration plants, field compression, separation, and tank battery facilities.
- Experience with pipeline repair and installation of new pipelines.
- Experience in making hot taps and stopple installations.
- Good written and verbal skills
- Effective use of computers/software
- Attention to detail
- Good understanding of federal and state codes and regulations for the pipeline industry.
