Type of Position:

This position will begin as a 12-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 12 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 4 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.

Toledo, OH (on site role).

Compensation:

$45.00/hr to $52.00/hr (depending on experience) to start. Overtime is paid at 1.5x over 40 hours. Additionally, any hours worked on a Sunday after reaching 40 total hours for the week will be paid at double time (2.0x).

Job Description:

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major automotive manufacturer to hire a Maintenance Supervisor for our facility in Toledo, OH. This facility produces 8-speed and 10-speed rear-wheel drive transmissions. In this role, you will supervise 20-25 skilled trades personnel, oversee maintenance and repair activities for a variety of CNC and automated manufacturing equipment, and collaborate cross-functionally to support production goals. The position requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced, unionized manufacturing environment. We would love for you to join our team!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance activities for machining and assembly equipment, including broach machines, gear machines, grinders, valve body NTC equipment, Kamau equipment, and more
  • Support plant SPQRC goals (Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost)
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions (short and long term)
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and planned maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion
  • Collaborate daily with production, engineering, and other departments to address downtime issues and process improvements
  • Use Maximo to monitor equipment status, assign tasks, and track work orders
  • Manage construction and maintenance projects, meeting schedule and quality requirements
  • Train, develop, and evaluate skilled trades team members
  • Ensure compliance with Local and National Labor agreements, as well as plant safety and housekeeping standards
  • Facilitate cross-functional improvement meetings and participate in shift handoff communications

Skills, Education, Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred
  • 6-9 years of practical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with hands-on experience in CNC equipment
  • Experience supervising skilled trades in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge of tooling, manufacturing, and assembly processes
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to build teams and foster positive relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email tools
  • Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift, plus weekends and overtime as required

Skills, Education, Experience Preferred:

  • UAW experience
  • Knowledge of Maximo (maintenance management) and Kronos (timekeeping) systems
  • Familiarity with Global Manufacturing System (GMS) processes

Work Environment / Other Info:

  • This is a 100% on-site role in Toledo, OH
  • This is an off-shift role. Candidates must be open to 2nd and 3rd shifts.
  • Shift times are as follows: 2nd Shift: 3:00PM 11:00PM, 3rd Shift: 11:00PM 7:00AM
  • This will be a Monday to Friday role with weekend work approximately every other weekend.
  • This role involves a fair bit of overtime. All hours worked beyond 40 in a week will be compensated at 1.5x the regular hourly rate. Additionally, any hours worked on a Sunday after reaching 40 total hours for the week will be paid at double time (2.0x). Average OT will be about 9 hours per week (give or take).
