We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and experienced senior HSE Project Director professional to support Life Sciences North America (LSNA) an upcoming large/mega pharmaceutical project ($1B+) in the NC, IN, or TX markets. Until the project mobilizes the candidate will onboard with Jacobs and be immediately assigned to an in-flight project of similar size and complexity, to begin the process of assimilating with Jacobs ways of working and BeyondZero (HSE) culture.

As part of our team in the role of HSE leadership, you will provide direct support to the senior project/construction management team leadership and line of business HSE Director for Life Sciences North America (LSNA). Youll serve as a business partner working with Client HSE and Senior management stakeholders to lead HSE excellence and deliver projects and initiatives in a way to ensure no worker injuries or negative impacts to our clients business continuity. Well ask you to support BeyondZero performance that is inclusive of the Line of Business (LOB) vision and strategic plans, as well as provide overall leadership, management and direction to the Jacobs team and clients assigned.

Well rely on you to take personal ownership and responsibility for protecting people from harm and for driving Jacobs strategies and performance while supporting continuous improvement and building alliances with client leadership and Jacobs HSE team members and other stakeholders. Youll own and maintain open communication with the HSE Director for Life Sciences North America as well as Jacobs and client leadership, and peer LOB HSE team members to provide professional development and technical resources guidance, to ensure alignment and to assure consistent implementation of HSE process tools that support LOB HSE strategic plans and objectives. This position will have responsibility for all implementation of LSNA and Jacobs global HSE initiatives, and as it relates to the continuous improvement of HSE practices, compliance to corporate initiatives, and legal and regulatory requirements.

By establishing working relationships, youll provide visible support and leadership to all client and project stakeholders by providing interpretation, training, technical review and support, regulatory guidance, and governance oversight to ensure alignment and consistent implementation of the Jacobs HSE program. This key position will be the champion for driving best practices and continuous improvement efforts for positive motivation, employee development and resource planning that meets or exceeds overall HSE business goals and objectives.

You will work on problems of technical and legal scope requiring critical thinking and interaction with internal and external technical professionals, along with individuals representing official agencies. You will exercise broad judgment within generally defined practices and policies, and you will be considered a primary subject matter expert on all HSE topics.

Youll be charged to support and/or lead incident notification, investigation and reporting processes, as well as facilitating injury case management and return to work process. Youll support the development of Jacobs project specific HSE plans, review subcontractor hazard assessments and deliverables, and participate as required in operational readiness reviews, monthly assessments, management system reviews, and/or other forums relevant to project and/or LOB success.

The travel anticipated with this role is that related to the projects support. Future project assignments may require additional travel within the US, and potentially North America.

Candidates for this role require the ability to cater successfully to multiple task masters - support of HSE staff in the field, leadership and vision for Project and Construction Managers and other field staff - in a supportive but directive environment to ensure project and subcontractor success, in a leadership style that role models and demonstrates a culture of inclusion and caring for our craft workforce stakeholders, and finally the development of a rapport, partnership, and a communication style which engenders confidence and trust with our clients. You must present a demonstrated understanding of and ability to communicate effectively with regulatory authorities, major customers, and senior executives for all stakeholders. This requires flexibility, excellent communication skills, empathy, commitment, and dedication to the delivery of a wholistic approach which ensures workers go home safely every day.

The successful applicant for this important role will possess a certification from BSCP or other risk management and/or construction centric organization (CSP, GSP, SMS, CHST, or similar). Certification demonstrates your commitment to superior professionalism, upholding industry standards, and continued learning. These merits can boost your professional credibility and prestige within your own network, with your current clients, and when pursuing new business opportunities or bidding on projects.

Bachelors degree in Safety, Construction or other; or equivalent years of experience in lieu of degree

Professional certification as deemed appropriate and/or required by client specific circumstances.

A minimum of 15 years of demonstrated professional experience in a similar leadership role in managing construction health and safety, including managing staffs of 5 or more direct reports/project stakeholders

Demonstrated experience in managing construction projects in the Life Sciences arena

Experience with managing and conducting safety and leadership training

Ideally youll have:

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams, Excel, Outlook and Power Point

Demonstrated interpersonal relations and personnel management skills

Working knowledge in applicable regulatory compliance, as well as all applicable federal, state and local agencies requirements
