responsibilities:
  • Perform structural analysis and design calculations for steel and concrete structures using governing codes such as AISC, ACI, and other relevant standards.

  • Develop structural plans, designs, and layouts for projects with a focus on steel and concrete components.

  • Write and develop detailed structural project specifications, with specific sections for steel fabrication, concrete reinforcement, and material properties.

  • Coordinate structural work with other disciplines (architectural, mechanical, electrical) to ensure seamless integration of steel and concrete elements.

  • Review and approve shop drawings for steel fabrication and concrete reinforcement.

  • Develop design sketches and provide supervision for Designers/Drafters, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of structural details.

  • Provide engineering support to all internal PA divisions as requested, especially concerning structural integrity and material selection.

  • Work directly with clients for project development and technical support.

  • Develop probable construction cost estimates for projects, with an emphasis on steel and concrete materials and labor.

  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software (STAAD Pro) to prepare structural design documents.

  • Attend and participate in client meetings, communicating structural design concepts clearly.

  • Maintain communication with the Project Manager regarding all technical issues.

  • Perform field activities, including observing and recording existing field conditions and verifying measurements, particularly for existing steel and concrete elements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • PE or SE license is strongly preferred or ability to obtain as soon as possible

  • 7 or more years of work experience with a demonstrated specialization in the design of heavy industrial, manufacturing, or utility structures in steel and concrete.

  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro or equivalent finite element analysis software.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and or Microstation.

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Willingness to travel to client job sites as required (less than 10%).
