Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support two major R&D initiatives focused on new product development. This is a 100% design-focused role with no hands-on manufacturing or fieldwork-ideal for engineers who thrive in a CAD-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems for new machinery.
- Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, and project management.
- Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability and performance.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience in mechanical design, preferably within a manufacturing or parts production environment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks is required.
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and tolerancing.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- 5+ years of machine design experience.
- 1+ year of SolidWorks experience.
- Experience with sheet metal design.
- Background in manufacturing of parts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Candidates with experience in packaging machinery or automation systems are encouraged to apply.
- An Associate's degree with relevant experience may be considered.
Work Environment
This is a fully on-site role based in Covington, KY. The position is a contract role lasting approximately 6-9 months, with potential for extension based on project needs. The work will be 100% behind a desk doing design work for new machines within an R&D setting. Flexible work hours within standard business hours are available. This opportunity offers involvement in the front end of developing cutting-edge machine designs for new product development in a company that values culture and job tenure.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $120000.00/hr.
