Electrical Engineer Jobs in Massachusetts
An Electrical Engineer in the construction industry designs, develops, tests, and supervises the installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use. They prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, or topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements. They also oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget. They confer with engineers, customers, or others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects or products.
Important skills for an Electrical Engineer include problem-solving, critical thinking, active listening, complex problem solving, and operations analysis. They should also have knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software. Certifications can include Professional Engineer (PE), AutoCAD, and project management certifications. A person may begin their career as a Junior Electrical Engineer, move up to an Electrical Engineer, and then progress to a Senior Electrical Engineer. Prior to becoming an Electrical Engineer, they may have held roles such as Electrical Technician or Engineering Intern.
