Inspector Jobs in Massachusetts
Ensure structures meet building codes, zoning regulations, and contract specifications. Inspectors examine construction worksites frequently to confirm that they continue to meet legal and contractual requirements. If a project fails to meet these guidelines, inspectors issue a violation notice or stop-work order. They record their findings in daily logs (including photos) and periodic written reports.
Inspectors usually work alone, although they occasionally work in teams for especially large or complex projects. They do, however, need strong interpersonal skills because they continually communicate with clients, superintendents, and other important personnel. Inspectors must also have a strong understanding of building plans, specifications documents, drawings, and design criteria, as they are responsible for reviewing and approving blueprints for proposed ventures.
