Reinforcing Metal Worker Jobs in Alabama

A Reinforcing Metal Worker, also known as a rebar worker, plays a crucial role in the construction industry. They are responsible for cutting, bending, and attaching steel bars or mesh in concrete structures to increase their strength. They follow blueprints and drawings to place the rebar correctly, then secure it with wire, clips or welds to hold it in place during the concrete pour. These professionals often work on a variety of construction projects such as buildings, bridges, and roads and are integral to ensuring the structural integrity of these constructions.

The role requires a good understanding of mathematics and engineering principles, physical strength, stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret technical documents. Some of the certifications they might need include the Ironworker Red Seal Certification or a state license where required. Prior to becoming a Reinforcing Metal Worker, a person may have roles such as a construction laborer, welding apprentice or ironworker apprentice. The position typically requires a high school diploma and formal apprenticeship training in reinforcing metal work.
