About the Role:
Embark Consulting is seeking a proven financial and operational leader to join our Business Transformation practice as a Senior Director, with a focus on delivering CFO and finance transformation services. This is a high-impact leadership role for a dynamic individual who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments and brings a unique combination of strategic insight, hands-on execution, and a people-first mindset. Youll work closely with C-level executives, private equity stakeholders, and finance leaders to solve critical challenges, improve performance, and unlock long-term enterprise value.

Key Responsibilities:
Act as a strategic advisor to CFOs, CEOs, and private equity partners, leading end-to-end transformations that drive enterprise value creation and sustainable EBITDA improvement.
Oversee the transformation of finance & accounting functions, including process optimization, KPI development, systems improvement, and leadership alignment.
Design and execute value creation plans across portfolio companieswhether in pre-deal diligence, post-close integration, or operational turnaround phases.
Partner closely with management teams to identify financial and operational pain points, leveraging field visits and cross-functional collaboration to uncover root causes and drive impactful solutions.
Lead finance function transformations, including optimizing FP&A processes, building forecasting models, and driving timely, insight-rich financial reporting.
Develop and implement robust 13-week cash flow forecasting processes to support liquidity planning, covenant compliance, and proactive working capital management.
Build and refine dynamic financial models to support budgeting, scenario planning, capital allocation, and M&A decision-making.
Assess and enhance treasury operations, including cash management structures, banking relationships, intercompany funding, and cash visibility tools.
Guide AP automation initiatives, identifying inefficiencies in procure-to-pay workflows and implementing scalable technology solutions to reduce cycle times and manual effort.
Lead order-to-cash (O2C) process improvements, including invoicing accuracy, dispute resolution, and collections workflows to accelerate cash conversion and improve customer experience.
Implement AR automation strategies and tools to reduce DSO, increase visibility into aging, and streamline reconciliation efforts.
Translate complex financial and operational data into actionable strategy, influencing leadership decisions with clarity and confidence.
Guide ERP and finance systems strategy and implementation to align technology with business objectives.
Lead cross-functional workstreams including supply chain optimization, margin enhancement, SG&A rationalization, and shared services implementation.
Collaborate directly with PE sponsors on performance tracking, board materials, and investor reporting packages.
Serve as a mentor and leader within Embark, helping develop talent, codify best practices, and shape client delivery standards.
Contribute to business development through client relationship cultivation, proposal development, and thought leadership.
Qualifications:
12+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate finance, or operational leadership roles, including extensive work with private equity-backed companies.
Demonstrated success in leading finance transformation, performance improvement, or enterprise change initiatives.
Expertise in two or more of the following industries: healthcare (provider, payer, services), SaaS/software, manufacturing (discrete or process), or real estate/hospitality.
Proven experience managing complex M&A transactions and executing post-close transformation initiatives, including carve-outs and integrations.
Hands-on leadership style, with a willingness to travel to client sites, manufacturing facilities, and regional operations as needed.
Exceptional communication, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills; able to influence boardroom decisions with data-driven insights.
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
Preferred Attributes:
Familiarity with leading cloud-based ERP platforms such as NetSuite, Workday, SAP S/4HANA, or Microsoft Dynamics 365, including experience with system implementation, optimization, or integration within finance functions.
Experience implementing or operating AP automation solutions (e.g., Tipalti, Stampli, AvidXchange, MineralTree), with a clear understanding of how automation impacts efficiency, controls, and working capital.
Exposure to modern CRM platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or Microsoft Dynamics, with the ability to align finance processes with front-office systems to improve revenue recognition, billing accuracy, and cross-functional data visibility.
Familiarity with private equity portfolio monitoring tools and performance dashboards.
Experience working across multiple sectors and operating models, including high-growth, turnaround, and mature businesses.
Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution in high-pressure environments.
Experience building internal capabilities at a growing consulting firm or leading high-performing advisory teams.
Knowledge of spend management platforms such as Coupa, SAP Ariba, Procurify, or Airbase, with experience integrating procurement workflows, improving expense visibility, and driving cost control through technology.
