Job Title: Mechanical Building Code Inspector
Job Description
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Building Code Inspector in the Fort Lauderdale, FL metropolitan statistical area. The primary duties will include performing building code inspections and plans review, specifically in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing areas for both residential and commercial buildings. This role also involves managing specific projects related to these types of code inspections. While some travel may be necessary for inspections or managing projects in the assigned area, inspector positions are predominantly field-based, with occasional office assignments. Conversely, Plan Examiner positions are primarily office-based.
Responsibilities
- Conduct building code reviews and/or quality control inspections.
- Prepare written and electronic reports, and issue notices of correction.
- Explain and interpret code and quality control regulations or requirements.
- Recognize, evaluate, and properly resolve unique problems or situations.
- Maintain effective customer service relationships with clients and the public.
- Assist the inspection management team with business development.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical inspection expertise.
- Quality control inspection skills.
- Commercial building code inspection license (BN#) in mechanical discipline.
- Building code review experience.
- Electrical and plumbing inspection skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Required state of Florida commercial building inspection license (BN#) in mechanical discipline.
- Electrical, plumbing, and building inspection licenses are a huge plus.
- 3+ years of experience performing plan reviews and inspections.
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
Work Environment
The work environment primarily involves field assignments with occasional office duties. Plan Examiner positions are mainly office-based. Some travel may be required for inspections or project management within the assigned area.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $83200.00 - $115000.00/yr.
