Alamon, Inc. seeks a Network Transport Field Engineer for its Network Services department.
This position entails: Up to 90% travel Primarily throughout Northern California. Must reside within 150 miles of Redding, CA. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network Transport Field Engineer with proven expertise in microwave telecommunications and a solid foundation in both TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) and Ethernet-based transport technologies. This is a field-based role with heavy travel, supporting the deployment, integration, and maintenance of critical network infrastructure throughout Northern California.

Job Description:
Support the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of hybrid
microwave transport systems carrying both TDM and Ethernet traffic.
Conduct site surveys, equipment installations, link alignments, and system testing.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to microwave backhaul, TDM/Ethernet
conversions, and transport layer connectivity.
Interface with engineering, operations, and customer teams to ensure network
reliability, performance, and service quality.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations,
installation notes, and maintenance activities.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with major microwave systems including SIAE, Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia,Aviat, Cambium, or similar platforms.
Proficiency in network management tools (SNMP, EMS/NMS platforms performance monitoring systems).
Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or similar networking credentials.
Familiarity with fiber optic transport systems and associated deployment practices.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Must pass the pre-employment screening process which includes a background check, drug test and motor vehicle records pull.
Have the ability and mentality to work outdoors, in a physically demanding work environment and all-weather conditions, lifting or moving up to 50lbs., and hiking over various terrain.
Possess a current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record with no DUI / DWIs within the past 5 years.
Must be willing to travel locally, statewide, or regionally as needed.
Be available to work nights and weekends as required by project demands.
Work Environment:
The NWS Transport Field Engineer position may require visiting Alamon customer site facilities nationwide, travel may be required.
Must be able to work in enterprise, educational, warehouse, manufacturing, rooftops and remote areas.
Indoor and outdoor work will be based on the scope of the contract.
Exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, varying noise levels, and wet or slick surfaces may be possible.
When appropriate, wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations.
This position may require working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions and terrain; may work for long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions.
Physical Demands:
Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at a time.
Must be able to ride in a vehicle for extended periods of time to travel to and from job sites.
Ability to work in different temperatures and through changing weather conditions.
Must be able to traverse all areas of the Jobsite. This may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, kneeling, or stretching.
Ability to clearly distinguish colors, shades, and brightness when working with multi-colored cablings such as twisted pair copper and fiber optic cable.
Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and use practical judgment while working through job assignments.
Ability to work at heights, handle ladders, along with pushing and pulling equipment.
Travel Requirements:
Northern California - Must reside within 150 miles of Redding, California.
Must be willing and able to travel up to 90% of the time, including overnight stays.
Lodging and transportation will be provided while working and traveling for the Company.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience working with microwave transport systems.
Strong working knowledge of TDM to Ethernet conversions and associated network protocols.
Familiarity with transport layer technologies, including timing/synchronization and QoS.
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to work independently in the field.
Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
