Geotechnical Design Engineer

Position Summary: JMT is currently seeking a full-time Geotechnical Engineer for our headquarters office in Hunt Valley, MD. Project types will include a wide variety of high-profile projects including, highways, bridges, aviation, rail & transit, marine and ports, water and wastewater, and buildings and facilities. Notable projects include Long Bridge North, I-95 ETL Lanes, Harry W Nice/Thomas Mac Middelton Bridge Replacement. and Alexandria Waterfront Improvements.

Compensation is $85,000. - $92,000. annually, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Responsible for management and oversight of geotechnical investigations
• Development and implementation of subsurface investigation programs consisting of test borings, cone penetrometer, dilatometer and geophysical surveys
• Perform engineering analysis of soils and rock, for design of shallow and deep foundation systems, slope stability, excavations, permanent and temporary retaining systems, dewatering systems and soil improvement
• Assist in preparation of geotechnical reports and memoranda
• Assist in preparation of construction documents including plans, specifications, and cost estimates
• Conduct and manage on-site geotechnical inspection and engineering services during construction
