Reporting directly to the Service Supervisor, the Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting and overseeing repairs on a variety of Caterpillar components in a shop environment. This position will have a focus on Power Systems and components, including rebuilding, inspecting, and assessing transmissions, torque convertors, differentials, final drives, traction motors, and engines. The successful candidate will work a 5x2 shift and will report to our Power Systems Edmonton facility.

PPE provided Job Description:
Disassembling and assembling power train components including differentials, torque convertors, transmissions and radiator groups
Disassembling and assembling 3300, 3400, 3500 Caterpillar engines in Diesel and Natural Gas configurations
Perform failure analysis of failed components and apply salvage and repair guidelines to provide repair direction
Interface with customers, internal stakeholders and sales support
Working with the supervisor on various tasks
Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment
Various related duties as required
Qualifications
Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification
Minimum 10 years experience as a Heavy-Duty Technician
Power Train component overhaul experience required, must be capable and confident troubleshooting, disassembling and assembling power train components to determine root cause of failure
Engine component overhaul experience to determine root cause of failure is highly desired
AFA 2 is highly desired
Dedication to safety
Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal
