Delaware County Community College (DCCC), located outside of the Philadelphia Metro area, is looking for a diligent and dynamic Plumber to join our team of professionals who are committed to elevating the skilled trades with stellar work ethics in the maintenance of the College's physical structure. Under supervision, the Plumber will perform journey level plumbing maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and/or renovation of buildings, facilities, and equipment in one or more of the following areas: underground piping systems, building piping, fixtures, building equipment, and controls. Inspects buildings, facilities, and equipment to ascertain needed repairs and make recommendations/follow-up to supervision.Essential Functions:1. Performs journey level work in any or all of the following categories:2. Underground piping systems including but not limited to domestic water, sewer storm drains and other similar systems; laying out joints or supports; protects and backfills as appropriate3. Building piping including but not limited to industrial and domestic water, sewer and other drain lines, air gas and vacuum lines, other piping systems typically installed at DCCC; laying out joints or supports; protects and finishes as appropriate4. Fixtures including but not limited to faucets, toilets, traps and drains, water fountains and other similar devices5. Building equipment including but not limited to heaters, heat exchangers, pumps, and other equipment and components connected to piping systems in buildings6. Controls including but not limited to meters, valves, regulators, safe devices, and other components necessary to properly control liquid and gas systems7. Pipe and tubing jointing including but not limited to silver brazing, soldering, caulking, threading, compression joints, flaring, and other methods common to the trade8. Maintains, repairs, and installs building plumbing systems, components, fixtures, and/or equipment in accordance with established work order maintenance schedules, service calls or specific assignments by supervisor; performs work according to manufacturer's specifications, departmental guidelines, trade practices, blueprints, shop drawings, and schematics.9. Inspects buildings, facilities, and equipment to ascertain required repairs and makes recommendations to supervisor.10. Reports discrepancies or necessary follow-ups to supervisor.11. Establishes and maintains a positive and cooperative working relationship with members of department and campus community.12. Interprets blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, schematic manufacturers' specs, and other reference materials to determine appropriate job requirements and procedures.13. May be required to assist with maintaining files of utility and building systems diagrams generated from field investigation.14. Promptly reports accidents on the job, preparing and submitting accident reports.15. Responsible for adhering to policies, procedures, and practices on safety and operational instructions; complies with rules and regulations applicable to building codes.16. Prepares and submits requisitions for materials required to complete assigned tasks; plans work to ensure cost effective use of labor and materials. 17. Performs duties and responsibilities with a view toward department goals, energy conservation and support of academic and institutional goals.18. Maintains proficiency at the current level and continually updates knowledge through appropriate courses, seminars, publications, and contacts with others in the trade. Valid driver's license.
