Grading Foreman Position Available

The grading foreman position is a management level position, with intermediate knowledge and experience in team leading. This position requires an ability to communicate, direct and lead a team in a respectful manner. Grading foreman are to operate job sites safely while ensuring site quality and productivity of the team.

Duties:
-Sees that the crew follows all the necessary methods and safety precautions to ensure efficient and safe work
-Ensure the project is proceeding according to the construction plans, and that the job follows the proper sequence
-Ability to help with technical training or re-training of crew members and mentor if necessary
-Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
-Ability to identify and resolve problems when they arise including identifying defects in equipment, unsafe work conditions and reporting accidents/injuries.
-Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service
-Ability to operate necessary mechanical components and gasoline/diesel-powered units
-Adhere and ensure the crew is following workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
-Ability to draft reports and documents including work orders, timecards, equipment sheets, delivery receipts, vehicle/equipment inspections, daily logs of working hours and vehicle services, etc.
-Meets deadlines and schedules
-Perform minor maintenance work on machinery, equipment, and vehicles
-Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned
-Intermediate knowledge of GPS and machine control systems
-Communicate effectively and respectfully with the public, customers, inspectors and co-workers verbally and in written form
-Enter Labor and Equipment daily to Sage Service Operations
-Experience in leading a team and ensuring all necessary methods and safely precautions to ensure efficient and safe work
-Ensure the project is proceeding according to the construction plans, and that the job follows the proper sequence
-Ability to train and mentor if necessary
-Continuous effort to improve operations and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service
-Operate necessary mechanical components and gasoline/diesel-powered units
-Adhere and ensure the crew is adhering to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

-OSHA 30
-Equivalent to a high school diploma
-Valid Nevada driver license
-Three (3) years experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator
-Experience in a leadership role for 3 or more years
-Knowledge of operation of front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors and other pieces of heavy equipment and maintenance and storage of equipment
-High level of personal integrity and a strong work ethic
-Professional demeanor and ability to adapt in stressful situations
-Confident, consistent and decisive personality with a strong attention to detail
-Able to work with little supervision and a sense of independence and self-direction
-Possess a valid drivers license
-Flexible with solid interpersonal skills that allow effective work in a diverse working environment that can be unpredictable
PREFERRED SKILLS
-In depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and safety guidelines
-Experience in leading a crew
-Experience in working with electrical and hydraulic systems
-Understanding of drawings, plans, and blueprints
-Experience in a leadership role within construction and ability to operate, maintain, and repair equipment and machinery if necessary
ADDITIONAL NOTES
Working Conditions
-Physical ability to lift up to 100 lb
-Travel to off-site locations may be required
-Safety equipment such as steel-toed safety boots will be required
-Overtime as required
-Hazards associated with the trade
-Work in both indoors and outdoors
-Will be exposed to construction sites
-May be required to work in extreme weather conditions
