Job Summary
SMSI, LLC is seeking mid-level Field Engineers for support of capital projects for a variety of projects for our clients at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Position located onsite at Los Alamos National Lab.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate deliverables for construction closeout and turnover package development including review and closure of all subcontractor submittals, construction and verification test data, and subcontractor as-built documentation.
* Prepare engineering closeout documentation as part of client engineering verification of the construction turnover documentation.
* Provide Field Engineering expertise for development and management of project requirements, and verification / tracking of implementation of requirements through the project life cycle.
Required Skills/ Abilities
* Minimum of five years previous experience.
* Demonstrated understanding of capital construction projects (i.e., understand role of contractor, designer, owner).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Capability to organize project documentation using various means (e.g., spreadsheets, databases).
* Capability with MS Office Suite and ability/willingness to learn new software packages.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with clients, contractors, and consultant on a day-to-day basis.
* Self-starter with ability to work with limited oversight.
* U.S. Citizenship
Desired Skills
* Structural experience.
* Experience at LANL and nuclear facilities preferred.
Education
* Engineering degree from Credited University or documented high level of engineering and project experience.
Physical Requirements
* Ability to perform walk downs onsite.
* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
* Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted
* May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
