Pay Range: $87,900.00 - $131,900.00 / year

Additional components of compensation may include:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinates and supervisees Plant Operations & Maintenance support staff in assigned areas of responsibility. Oversees department operations including implementing and monitoring plans, resource utilization and quality. Assist the Director in the implementation of strategies that supports the department and institution's strategic goals and participate in problem solving, planning and budgeting as needed. Provides opportunities for continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives as well as, Health System initiatives. All other duties as assigned.

Associates Degree or Relevant Technical Certification preferred. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a Degree / Technical Certification.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Must have a valid Illinois State Driver’s license and a driving record that allows for the Health System insurance carrier to cover the incumbent.

5 years of experience in general mechanical, electrical, carpentry, painting, landscaping, construction and building maintenance.

Supervisory experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of JCAHO, IDPH, OSHA, Federal and State codes and regulations.

Familiarity with a variety of computer systems.

Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and with patients, visitors, vendors, contractors and inspectors.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides supervision to staff and oversees financial and operational activities of all assigned areas ensuring service excellence and compliance with all State and accrediting agency regulations. Participates in frontline interventions, monitoring staff response to engineering issues.

Assists with the development, monitoring, implementation and revision of department policies and procedures integrating services with the Hospital’s objectives. Assists with monitoring, evaluating and modifying scorecard plans and carrying out strategic vision of department. Evaluates and resets operational and engineering methods and outcomes as needed.

Prepares and monitors operating budget for area of responsibility analyzing variances and reporting any discrepancies to the Director. Assists in managing supply resources.

Coordinates staff resource utilization, including preparing and reviewing daily staff schedules, addressing short term fluctuations and assigning daily work.

Participates in staff interviews, selection and orientation processes. Monitors, evaluates and takes appropriate actions to ensure staff competency and compliance with department and hospital rules, human resources policies and advances in technology.

Functions as a technical resource throughout the organization and as a coach and role model for staff, monitoring performance, completing performance evaluations, recommending corrective action and participating in discipline as needed.

Utilizes sound judgment and conflict resolution skills to resolve customer complaints, CQI and reports all incidents to appropriate resource and Director.

Performs Life Safety Inspections for Hospital and all Clinics.

Manages emergency system repairs and scheduled maintenance throughout the Health System per NFPA codes and standards.

Assists with the Joint Commission eSOC maintenance and implantation of corrective actions for PFI’s (Plan For Improvements).
