Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work The EquipmentOperator I classification is based on the operation of various types of non-CDLequipment on a routine basis. The skillsand knowledge required are of a level and scope to be in support of a journey, trades,or crafts person. Some positions willrequire the performance of other essential and marginal functions depending onthe location, assignment, or shift. Employeesin this class operate vehicles that do not require a Commercial DriversLicense such as trucks, farm tractors, zero and turn mowers. Equipment Operator Is receive training onvarious pieces of CDL required equipment for future advancement to theEquipment Operator II classification. Minimum Qualifications One(1) year of experience as a laborer assisting in general trades usinghand-tools and maintenance equipment. Requiresskill to read slightly complex material such as operator manuals, performsimple arithmetic, complete slightly complex forms and use tools and equipment.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisiteknowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered. Special Requirements Somepositions require the use of departmental vehicles on departmentalbusiness. Individuals must be capable ofoperating the vehicles safely, possess a valid drivers license and acceptabledriving record. Some positions may afford the employee the occasional opportunity tooperate equipment requiring a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) for trainingpurposes. Kind of Examination Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) vacancy and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancy is with the City of Montgomery Parks and Recreation Department . Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire. For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application and supplemental questionnaire form completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were, if more than five qualified applications are received, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken. if there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
