Thiel College seeks a qualified individual for the position of full-time Painter/General Maintenance.

This position will be required to perform skilled work in painting and drywall repair of buildings, structures, and equipment with paint, varnish, or other coating materials. Qualified candidate must have previous painting experience including operating various painting equipment and formulating paint colors. Selected candidate will be required to operate college equipment and other off-road vehicles, perform a variety of activities in the general repair and maintenance of grounds, vehicles, and college facilities as well as other duties as assigned.

Primary duties: Operates equipment used for preparing and painting various surfaces. Applies paint both interior and exterior using brush, roller, airless spray gun or spray gun; hangs paper wall coverings; glaze; orders supplies/materials; formulates paint color; maintaining records of time and material used in projects. Recommends proper paint applications and paint schemes. Responsible for maintaining project/paint schedules and records. Acts as a liaison with paint contractors and vendors. Prepare and paint athletic fields and parking lots. Accountable for selected projects. Responds to work orders, emergency repairs, and campus departments/services on a daily basis.

Education and Experience: Vocational or high school graduate or equivalent. Knowledge and work experience in painting and finish application. General understanding of the preparation and appropriate application for specific paintable conditions. Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions/diagrams.

Physical Requirements : Good physical condition, motor skills, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity. May be required to lift, push, or pull up to 75 pounds. May be required to crouch, kneel, bend, or stand for long periods. Capable of climbing at moderate heights. Possible exposure to chemical, mechanical, or electrical hazards, dust, fumes, and odorous working conditions. May be required to work outdoors in inclement weather. May be required to wear protective clothing or devices, such as goggles, gloves, masks or shields.

Supervision:

Supervises some student workers and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis.

Working Conditions:

A general office and campus environment.

Safety/Training Requirements:

Continuing education for topics relevant to the field. Periodic training on topics of nondiscrimination, prevention of harassment, prevention of sexual misconduct, and other topics as required. General safety training and ergonomics training relevant to an office environment.
