Position Purpose :

Performs a variety of duties in and around the Hospital complex and off campus including the repair, maintenance and installation of plumbing, steam and water systems and equipment according to the appliance codes and Hospital priorities.

What you will do:

  • Performs the estimating, installing, operating, troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, replacing, altering of the gas, water, steam, vacuum, medical gas, reverse osmosis, sewage treatment, sanitary lines, systems and equipment and assorted fixtures.

  • Maintains, repairs, and installs plumbing and steam equipment according to national, state and local codes.

  • Inspects and repairs any stoppages, breaks, leaks in waste or water lines, vents, and return lines which might prevent proper operation.

  • Repairs and installs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, valves, faucets, showers, bathtubs, sitz baths, waste vents, water lines and fire sprinkler systems.

  • Installs, maintains, repairs and troubleshoots gas, water, steam, vacuum, medical gas, and associated fixtures.

  • Installs, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots sanitary and storm sewage systems.

  • Performs general testing of backflow preventers throughout facility and records findings in the Backflow Preventer Test Log.

  • Maintains the reverse osmosis system.

  • Performs welding, brazing, soldering of water, gas, and steam systems.

  • Inspects, repairs, and maintains medical air and medical vacuum systems.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and/or Technical Certificate is required.

  • Minimum of 8+ years of plumbing experience is required. Healthcare facility setting experience is preferred.

  • Plumbing P-2 license is required. Plumbing P-1, S-3, and MG-1 license preferred.

  • Backflow Prevention and Medical Gas Certification or the ability to quire certification within 6 months of employment in the position is required.

  • Requires the ability to read and understand plumbing prints related to the facility. Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Physical and Mental Effort:

  • Must be able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to them as they change frequently. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles.

  • Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.

  • Must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as eye protection, ear protection, masks, gloves, and other necessary equipment.

  • Must be able to operate and maintain shop machinery safely and take all necessary precautions.

  • Must be able to stand, sit, bend, crouch, kneel, and climb for prolonged periods of time.

  • Must be able to push/pull/lift objects over 100 lbs.

  • Must be willing and able to work in outdoor environments while being exposed to the elements hot, cold, rain, snow, wind, and other conditions.

  • Must be able to perform difficult manipulative, gross body and hand-eye coordination skills.
