Machine Shop Supervisor Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Machine Shop Supervisor for the 1st shift to lead, organize, and direct the daily activities of the CNC machining, tooling, and manufacturing departments. You will oversee the daily operations of the machine shop, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to safety and quality standards, and timely delivery of machined components. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in machining processes, and the ability to drive continuous improvement. You will oversee up to 20 direct reports in a machine shop environment that has 12+ CNC machines. Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate activities of machinists, CNC operators, and support staff. Plan and prioritize production scheduled to meet customer and internal deadlines. Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance to minimize downtime. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Train and mentor team members to enhance skills and productivity. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve production issues. Maintain accurate production records and report key performance metrics. Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and cost reduction. Essential Skills Familiarity with ERP systems and lean manufacturing principles. Proficiency in reading blueprints using precision measurement tools. Strong knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, and manufacturing processes. Strong communication skills. Quality control proficiency. Ability to lift 50 lbs and measure parts in all dimensions and angles. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification preferred. 5+ years of experience in a machine shop environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Work Environment The role is for the 1st shift, working from 6:30am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. The Machine Shop Supervisor will directly oversee 20 employees and 12+ CNC Machines.
