Mechanical Engineering- MEP -Electrical Engineer- Plumbing Engineer

An excellent multi-disciplinary engineering client (MEP) based in New Jersey is seeking to add a commissioning engineer / engineering interested in commissioning to the team to assist in the testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of systems to ensure they meet design specifications and operational requirements. Project work provides commissioning services to Mechanical (HVAC), Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems on a variety of projects and facility types within commercial, and industrial settings.

This role involves collaborating with other team members (engineers) and stakeholders, and ensuring projects are completed safely and efficiently. This position will allow qualified individuals to develop technical expertise under the guidance of experienced engineers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • System Testing and Verification: Assisting with the execution of tests and inspections on various systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical, plumbing) to ensure they meet design specifications and operational requirements.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Working with other engineers and technicians to identify and resolve issues encountered during commissioning activities.
  • Documentation: Preparing detailed reports on field test results, commissioning procedures, and system performance.
  • Collaboration: Working with project managers, other engineers, contractors, and clients to coordinate commissioning activities and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring all commissioning activities are performed safely and in accordance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Learning and Development: Developing technical expertise in a specific area of commissioning under the mentorship of experienced engineers.
  • Compile, track, and review specifications, drawings, submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning
  • Conduct field inspections
  • Prepare accurate and complete commissioning programming, pre-function, startup and functional documents
  • Prepare detailed documents and create a full commissioning report
  • Proficient in the use of drafting software programs including AutoCAD and Revit for reviewing systems and verifying conditions

Qualifications:

  • One (1) or more years of experience in MEP commissioning related project work
  • A Bachelors degree in Engineering is required; Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing or related engineering discipline
  • Ability to review MEP submittals to understand project requirements and specifications
  • Knowledge & comprehension of engineering principles, testing procedures, and relevant industry standards
  • Research and abide by state/local codes and requirements (IECC, ASHRAE, LEED)
  • Help identify and resolve technical issues encountered during commissioning.
  • Effective communication with team members, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Organization and Documentation Skills (The ability to maintain accurate records and reports
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
