Position Objective
The Mechanical Engineer II role provides knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and procedures. Applies mechanical engineering principles and concepts and is able to draw solutions from both formal training and experience. Works with Engineering and other functional areas to obtain optimum resource utilization.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for mechanical design, test and analysis of work product, systems or processes.
- Support designs with analysis and calculations including tolerancing, stress, mechanics and dynamics.
- Recommend enhancements, and cost reductions, initiate ECN's and formulate cost impacts.
- Create design of diecast, injection molded, and stamped parts.
- Design mechanisms, assemblies, hermetically sealed containers, and electronics packaging
- Create ASME Y14 compliant 2D and 3D mechanical CAD drawings of components, subassemblies and systems.
- Provide root cause analysis for mechanical engineering design issues.
- Keep accurate and complete records of engineering activities.
- Provides training and/or direction to technicians when needed.
- Provides input to bid and proposal activities.
- Provides communications and/or presentations to customers, suppliers or vendors.
Required Education and Experience
- 4-year degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or related field OR a combination of education and relevant experience.
- A minimum of 1 year of working experience.
- Experience in generating design documentation.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must be familiar with 3D modeling software.
- Excellent communication verbal and written communication skills.
- Must show initiative, motivation and have the ability to act independently to resolve technical issues.
- Must be proficient with MS Office Suite including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
- Must have the desire and ability to travel for participation in field testing.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Travel Requirement
May require participation in product field tests requiring travel.
