WORKUnder the direct supervision of the Lead Plant Mechanic, performscomplex maintenance work for coal fired, natural gas fired, and gas turbine electrical generation and auxiliary equipment for all Electric Production facilities and units(NDS 4and5, DHPC, WEC1 and PPGAs WEC2).QUALIFICATIONSAny combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, plus five years in a mechanical equipment repair position.Minimum of one year coal power plant mechanic experience preferred.Certification, and/or formal training in a power plant related field, which includes but is not limited to: welding, HVAC, machining, mechanic, vibration analysis, asbestos removal, or shaft alignment preferred.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSPossession of a valid drivers license.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOBConducts regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and repairs to identify potential failures, preventive maintenance needs, and safety concerns. Must be able to identify and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns or failures and determine the appropriate course of action for repairs, and coordinate with Electric Production staff or external contractors.General plant maintenance, upkeep and repair including pumps, motors, fans, coal pulverizers, air compressors and other apparatus.Performs installation of new plant equipment.Assists in major overhaul work on plant equipment, including turbine generator.Completes work orders for maintaining, repairing, or installing equipment and compiles information.Direct activities of contractors when assigned.
