Machine Operator Job Description We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our team in a CNC Operator role, working adjacent to the plating department on machines that cut steel beams. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in reading a tape measure and blueprints, as each run involves different prints and measurements. Operating CNC plasma cutters and other CNC equipment is essential, along with running brand-new Robotic Beam Line machines. Responsibilities Operate CNC plasma cutter and other CNC equipment as needed. Run Robotic Beam Line machines and move materials via crane. Set up programs on CNC machines and follow manufacturing guidelines. Perform daily preventative maintenance on equipment. Produce quality parts according to drawings and check materials using tape measure. Document findings and understand mathematics/measurements. Operate a forklift when available. Assist in unloading flatbed trailers and transporting materials. Clean up and manage inventory within the facility. Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Essential Skills Strong CNC operation experience (2-5 years). Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Proficiency in mathematics and measurements. Familiarity with heavy industry equipment. Experience with overhead cranes (0-1 year). Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in construction, farming, steel, or other heavy industries is preferred. Ability to document measurements and use measuring equipment without assistance. Why Work Here This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly expanded facility with significant investment. Work Environment The work environment is a very nice, brand-new, and well-lit facility. While not climate-controlled, it will have fans, and the job requires working both indoors and outdoors. The shift runs from 7am to 3pm with some flexibility for overtime and Saturdays, which are generally voluntary. The role requires agility for equipment changeovers and handling materials. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Petersburg, Virginia. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
