Design Construction Senior Manager (Project Director) - First Hill Modernization Project

**THE ROLE**

The Project includes a new 240 inpatient tower (the North Tower), which will provide a new 50,000 sf Emergency Department, a new 24-unit Main Surgery and future bed floors for the Providence Swedish Puget Sound Central Region. The Project also includes a new 240 outpatient tower (Block 95 project), which will house high acuity outpatient services and be connected to the inpatient facilities via a new skybridge and tunnel as part of the project. This role will be responsible for the delivery and overall success of each program's phases and sub projects.

**Key Relationships:**

The Project Director will be responsible for leading the Project Delivery Team consisting of a diverse manager level roles within the organization as well as third party vendors. The Project Director will work within the projects established processes to ensure that thoughtful, timely and informed decisions are made in support of Providence Swedish Strategic Plan. This role will interface with a wide variety of Hospital staff, including medical directors, and officers to identify institutional objectives and their requirements as well as provide them with regular updates on progress and performance.

The Project Director will provide leadership and oversight to effectively execute and successfully deliver First Hill Modernization Project. This role will direct Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Equipment, Furniture, IT and IS Managers as well as Contractors and Consultants. The Project Director will oversee Project's compliance with Providence Swedish capital project platform and be responsible for developing consistent cost and schedule reporting and integration within the organization. This role will inform Providence Swedish Health Services Senior Management Team with regular updates on progress and performance.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

+ Ensure that project programs, designs, budgets, and schedules are inclusive of all elements required for a complete Project.

+ Oversee the development of projects plans, schedules, and budgets including resource requirements.

+ Provide leadership in facilitating timely decision-making and integration of key stakeholder groups and required milestones.

+ Organize and drive a team of industry professionals and project staff towards successful completion of projects objectives.

+ Lead courageously, takes personal responsibility to do the right thing, and persists in times of challenge or uncertainty.

+ Use excellent communication and relationship management skills to navigate a complex and sensitive capital resources environment.

+ Represent the end users' best interest throughout the design and construction phases.

+ Anticipate, recognize, and resolve problems and takes action to prevent or minimize their impact.

+ Initiate, set, manage and report against benchmarks, targets, and goals of the First Hill Modernization Project.

+ Manage the presentation of reports, estimates and program updates to Senior Management.

+ Develop, monitor, and review cost reports with projects team to verify completeness and accuracy.

+ Prepare comparison reports to monitor construction cost projections to actual data.

+ Perform all duties in a manner that promotes team success and reflects the Providence Swedish Health Services Mission, Vision and Values.

**IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS**

Required experience/education for this position include:

+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or Project Management

+ Ten (10) or more years of experience with Construction Project/Program Management techniques and methods

+ Ten (10) or more years of experience with Healthcare Specific Construction Projects

+ Proven experience as Director or a similar role of a large-scale Construction Projects

+ Leadership, critical thinking, motivational, and organizational skills.

+ Puts the customer first. Has a relentless focus on the customer.

+ Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

+ Deep knowledge and passion for architecture and construction.

+ Knowledge of building systems and processes.

+ Strong individual accountability, execution, and ownership mentality.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

+ Listens and communicates well with others within and outside of Providence Swedish Organization.

+ Maintain a positive, optimistic, and success-oriented attitude.

Preferred experience/education for this position include:

+ Master's Degree in Science or Business Administration

+ Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

+ Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) Certification

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
