Position Overview: This role is responsible for designing electrical schematics and layout drawings necessary for the assembly, deployment, and documentation of process control equipment systems. These drawings will illustrate both the electrical circuitry and the physical layout of electrical enclosures and mechanical subsystems, based on input and design specifications from internal and external engineering teams. Beyond the core responsibilities of electrical design, this position will be involved throughout the entire lifecycle of custom enclosure solutions-from concept and proposal development to specification, assembly, testing, and final commissioning. The role will also support functions related to sales, production planning, and project/order management. Key Responsibilities: Develop detailed electrical schematics and layout drawings using AutoCAD Electrical. Interpret design specifications and translate them into accurate technical documentation. Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes and standards, such as UL 508A and the NEC. Prepare cost estimates and source components based on custom project requirements. Review and convert existing electrical and layout drawings to conform to company standards. Visually compare physical assemblies to design drawings to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy. Design and document low-voltage enclosures (up to 480V), with attention to safety, spacing, and serviceability. Collaborate with production planning, operations, assembly, and quality control teams to resolve design issues and recommend improvements. Understand and interpret "in-plant" electrical documentation such as one-line diagrams, instrument loop sheets, and cable schedules. Qualifications and Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical. Solid knowledge of electrical standards, including UL 508A and NEC. Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to create and interpret complex technical drawings. Experience in designing and supporting low-voltage electrical enclosures. Skilled in estimating, sourcing, and specifying electrical components. Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams to support production and quality goals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Access. Familiarity with Microsoft Visio and Project.
