The Community Center Operations Supervisor will schedule, assign and supervise work; train full and part-time employees; maintain records to ensure safe, effective and efficient completion of tasks and projects within the Plymouth Community Center (PCC). This position will provide oversight to the daily operation of the PCC and Fieldhouse. Maintenance responsibilities include custodial services and coordination and procurement of resources for construction, repair, maintenance and activities of city owned equipment and facilities.
This position will require the ability to work the necessary hours and/or varying shifts to meet p ublic service needs, this may include late evenings, early morning and weekends. Supervise maintenance staff.

- Recommend hiring, discipline and discharge of employees, as necessary.
- Plan, schedule and document assignments.
- Assess the capabilities of employees and recommend or provide training as deemed appropriate.
- Manage employee performance and conflicts, provide coaching and feedback as needed.
- Evaluate performance formally and informally and provide timely and meaningful feedback.
- Perform daily building inspection walk-throughs and inventory checks to ensure proper completion of work and to maintain a clean and safe environment for users.
- Ensure that appropriate equipment and materials are available to staff to ensure successful rental operations, building maintenance and other facility operations.
- Work with supervisor to review and revise work procedures, personnel training, safety training and equipment operation to facilitate improvements in achieving PCC objectives.
- Inspect work to ensure it meets specifications and expectations.
- Provide oversight of vendors to ensure that agreed upon outcomes are met.
- Monitor building systems and equipment daily to assure consistent operating conditions
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning, including re-stocking of custodial supplies.
- Provide oversight of Fieldhouse operations including dome setup/takedown procedures.
- Maintain material safety data sheets.
- Develop and maintain records of maintenance/repairs performed on mechanical equipment.
- Conduct research and data gathering, report writing and maintenance quotes for improving operations.
- Monitor maintenance line-item expenditures, order new or replacement parts for mechanical equipment as needed within the planned budget.
- Evaluate needs and recommend a budget adequate to meet the needs of the community.
- Assist with implementing capital improvement plan (CIP) projects for PCC and Fieldhouse.
- Direct and oversee asset management for PCC related systems to ensure efficient delegation and tracking of tasks in addition to informing future CIP investment decisions.
- Respond to public inquiry and communicate departmental procedures, programs and other necessary information in an accurate, timely and professional manner.
- Remain informed on current city information in order to respond appropriately to the public.
- Assist the office support staff as needed (i.e. front counter support, answering phones, program registrations).
- Handle complaints and inquiries in a courteous, polite and professional manner.
- Establish, build and promote positive communications and partnerships with city departments and community organizations.
- Partner with city departments and organizations on major community events and activities.
- Work in concert with all city staff and community members to quickly and effectively resolve issues.
- Modify daily work schedule to compensate for fluctuation in equipment, material or personnel.
- Coordinate room setup for banquet and meeting spaces.
- Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) as assigned.
- Associates degree in related field or equivalent education and training.
- One year of experience related to maintenance in a public facility.
- Supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with maintenance equipment, procedures and personnel requirements for completion of day-to-day work objectives.
- Must possess a valid Minnesota drivers license
- Ability to work necessary hours and/or varying shifts to meet public service needs, including late evenings, early morning, and weekends.
- Demonstrated ability to perform in accordance with the City of Plymouths CIVIC values (customer focus, integrity, visionary, inclusion and connection) and comfort with supporting and advancing the city councils strategic priorities.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in related field or other related education/certification.
- Maintenance experience in a similar sized community center or fitness center.
- Experience with domes, artificial turf and/or inflation HVAC systems.
- Basic knowledge or ability to learn computer operations for facility systems, scheduling and operations.
- Knowledge of the tools, methods and materials used in general maintenance work and skill in operating hand, power and mobile equipment, safely and effectively.
- Job requires very frequent movement of standing, walking, pushing/pulling, kneeling (bending leg at knee and resting on knee), bending at waist, reaching (extending hands and arms in any direction), handling objects (grasping, turning or otherwise using hands or hand), repetitive hand motion and use of arm and leg muscles over extended periods. Other movements during this position that will happen frequently are sitting, lifting, carrying and crouching.
- The employee must be able to lift/carry items from 0 to 50 pounds from 0 to 6 feet. The employee must be able to lift items such as AV equipment, sign boards, barricades and kitchen equipment. The employee must be able to handle items such as tables, chairs, dome lights and commercial cleaning equipment.
- The job requires working indoors and outdoors, supervising others and working with chemicals/fumes/vapors.
