Discovering your exciting role

This position requires strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure to meet time sensitive deadlines, demonstrate a strong work ethic and be reliable. You will be assembling custom designed plumbing weldments from plastic (PFA) components using specialized welding/bonding/fusing tools and equipment. You will read blueprints, cut and shape materials, to join plastic pieces into finished products. This requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of or learning different welding techniques, and adherence to safety regulations.

  • Fabrication and Assembly: Using specialized equipment and welding tools to join plastic parts.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering instructions to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Material Handling: Cutting and shaping plastic materials according to specifications.
  • Welding Operations: Operating plastic welding equipment, including hot plate Fusion welders.
  • Quality Control: Inspecting welds and ensuring they meet quality standards and departmental expectations.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhering to department safety regulations and procedures.
  • Tool Maintenance: Maintaining and caring for all shop tools, machines, and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Welding Expertise: Proficiency in various plastic welding techniques.
  • Plumbing Expertise: Proficiency in pipe fitting, parts and specifications.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Manual Dexterity: Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills for accurate welding with a “Carpenters Eye” for detail.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot welding issues and identify defects.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail for quality and precision.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Communication: Good communication skills for collaboration with team members.

Additional Considerations

  • Prior experience in plastic welding or fabrication is often preferred.
  • Formal training in welding or fabrication, such as a trade school diploma or apprenticeship, is beneficial.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure. Find measurement on a print (fraction and decimal) and find the same measurement on a tape measure. Identify and differentiate 1/16” and 1/8” measurements.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools and how to safely use them including Belt/Disk sanders, Band Saw for close cutting.
  • Available to work 40+ hours a week including weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to lift, bend, kneel, stand for 8 hours or more a day.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and willing to cross train.
  • Ability to use Hand Tools: Tape Measure, Level, Screwdriver.

What can you expect

The work environment characteristics include periodic noise increases when in the Manufacturing facility, although the office environment is usually quiet and respectful. Safety glasses and other required safety protection should be worn when out in the manufacturing facility, which may vary depending on the area you are working/visiting.
