Education and Experience: Master's degree in education or related field, doctorate degree preferred, but not required, experience as a school principal and school district administrator (Pre-K-12 preferred); or any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with: California Administrative Services Credential; Minimum of 5 years, classroom instruction experience (multiple grade-levels/content areas preferred); Minimum of 5 years, education administrative experience with progressively responsible positions in a public school district. (TK-12 preferred)

Under the direction of the District Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services serves as a key member of the Executive Cabinet, collaborating to advance the district's vision of equity and excellence for all students. This position provides leadership and support to site and district administrators, teachers, and staff in the areas of instruction, curriculum, student achievement, and assessment. The Assistant Superintendent oversees the integration and implementation of programs and services including: -Curriculum and Instruction -English Learner and Dual Language Programs -Technology and Library/Media Services -Extended Learning, Enrichment, and Intervention -New Teacher Induction -Data and Assessment -Professional Development -State Preschool Program -Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) -Charter School Petitions Key Responsibilities -Collaborate with the superintendent, cabinet, and site leaders on district wide initiatives -Provide leadership in instructional improvement and site planning -Interpret and utilize assessment data to inform decisions and engage stakeholders -Expand and integrate educational technology to enhance learning -Supervise and evaluate certificated and classified staff -Recommend and develop board policies -Mentor and support certificated personnel Distinguishing Characteristics -Demonstrated leadership, management, and problem-solving ability -Strong communication and interpersonal skills -Integrity, courage, and a student-centered approach -Commitment to improving student achievement -Experience working collaboratively with employee associations
