Steuben County Public Works Seeking Motor Equipment Operator Trainee
*The trainee level is used to recruit candidates with partial Motor Equipment Operator qualifications into this field. Trainees receive on-the-job training while performing duties of a limited professional nature under close and continuing supervision. Trainee appointments are for a period that depends on experience at time of appointment. Incumbents receiving a satisfactory rating in this title will be advanced to the title of Motor Equipment Operator.
*CONTINGENT-PERMANENT (Permanent pending successful probationary term of the promoted individuals who last occupied these positions.)
LOCATION: STEUBEN COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS (CURTIS SHOP)
SALARY: $40,524
ANNUALLY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Either: Possession of a valid New York State Class B (or A) Commercial Driver Learner Permit at time of appointment, and/or Two years of full time or equivalent part time paid experience in the operation of automotive equipment used in road construction and/or maintenance activities.
NOTE: Appropriate vocational education and/or training may be substituted for years of experience on a year-to-year basis. Equivalent experience using agricultural equipment will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
