Position: Logistic Tech Electrical Specialist

Shift: 1st Shift (8 hours) 5 am- 130pm

Compensation: Up to $30/ Hour

Overview of role:

The Logistics Facilities Electrical Maintenance Technician Specialist is a highly skilled role responsible for advanced maintenance, repair, and optimization of electrical systems within a logistics facility. This position places a strong emphasis on electrical distribution systems, controls, automation, and instrumentation. The Specialist provides subject matter expertise in troubleshooting complex electrical issues, overseeing high-voltage systems, supporting capital upgrades, and mentoring team members. This role also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring electrical systems operate efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with all applicable standards.

Core Competencies:

  • Electrical Expertise: Deep knowledge of electrical systems including 3-phase power, control panels, PLCs, VFDs, transformers, switchgear, and NFPA 70E/NEC code compliance.

  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Ability to identify and resolve complex electrical and control system issues quickly and effectively.

  • System Integration: Experience working with automation systems, sensors, industrial networking, and programmable logic controllers.

  • Project Leadership: Competence in managing electrical installations, upgrades, and system retrofits.

  • Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Ability to develop and manage electrical PM programs that reduce downtime and increase system reliability.

  • Mentorship & Collaboration: Willingness to guide junior technicians in safe electrical practices and technical growth.

  • Safety & Compliance: Demonstrated commitment to lockout/tagout procedures, arc flash safety, and OSHA/EPA requirements.

  • Technical Communication: Ability to clearly interpret and communicate schematics, diagrams, and system data to cross-functional teams.

Key Deliverables:

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on facility electrical infrastructure, including lighting, power distribution, automation, and building systems.

  • Serve as the electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) and point of escalation for troubleshooting and emergency response.

  • Design and implement electrical preventive maintenance plans, including testing of panels, breakers, and emergency systems (e.g., backup generators).

  • Support integration of electrical controls with facility management and warehouse systems.

  • Collaborate with engineering and contractors on electrical installations, ensuring code compliance and proper system sizing.

  • Read and interpret complex electrical blueprints, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation.

  • Mentor and support technicians in safe work practices, troubleshooting techniques, and control systems operation.

  • Participate in root cause analysis for recurring electrical faults and assist in implementation of permanent solutions.

  • Lead or support projects such as power system upgrades, energy efficiency improvements, or the integration of smart systems.

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, repairs, and preventive maintenance using CMMS.

  • Monitor and manage electrical parts inventory, placing orders and tracking usage to reduce downtime.

  • Ensure compliance with national, state, and local codes, and contribute to internal audits and risk assessments.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (associate's degree in facilities management, mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field preferred) is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance or a similar role, with a strong focus on specialized systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical systems, automated machinery).
  • Expertise in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and automated systems.
  • Strong understanding of preventive maintenance techniques, particularly critical equipment and systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand and power tools, and maintenance management software (e.g., CMMS).
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS), control systems, or industrial control systems.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, safety procedures, and regulations relevant to maintenance activities in an industrial or logistics environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively work with internal teams and external contractors.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification in HVAC, electrical, mechanical systems, or other relevant technical fields.
  • Experience with energy management systems or green building technologies.
  • Knowledge of project management practices, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Leadership experience or experience mentoring or training junior technicians.
  • Familiarity with the logistics of the warehouse industry and its specific maintenance needs.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis to identify underlying issues and implement effective solutions.

Technology Requirements:

  • Proficiency in maintenance management software (e.g., CMMS) for tracking work orders, maintenance schedules, and equipment histories.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) or industrial control systems for monitoring and controlling critical systems.
  • Competence in using diagnostic and troubleshooting tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other specialized test equipment.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring that maintenance activities are performed accurately and to a high standard.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, demonstrating initiative and leadership when required.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and stay current with new technologies, systems, and industry best practices.
