Your Opportunity

The role of the Environmental Scientist is to support our local remediation and environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance teams based out of Alpharetta, Georgia. This position will provide technical support for groundwater and soil remediation systems and EHS projects. The position requires an independent individual with solid problem solving and communication skills. Mechanical aptitude, environmental sampling experience, experience with trouble-shooting and optimizing operation of mechanical groundwater treatment systems, and a working knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations are preferred. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and interpret data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Compiling, evaluating, analyzing, and presenting/reporting subsurface investigation data.
  • Understanding of engineering plans and specifications.
  • Preparation of health & safety plans, work plans, reports, and other technical documents.
  • Support project managers and senior project staff in producing high quality work products for our clients.
  • Support project delivery including providing technical input to projects.
  • Coordinate and assist with scoping and scheduling field investigations.
  • Conduct soil, soil vapor, and groundwater investigations.
  • Conduct site evaluations and preparing reports such as Phase I and/or Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).
  • Fieldwork, including local travel, and some regional travel, when necessary.
  • Site health and safety planning and completing work safely.
  • Expanded opportunities to enhance project management capabilities may encompass developing proposals; managing project budgets and schedules; coordinating with clients, stakeholders, and internal project staff; and performing and overseeing project technical work.

Y our Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • General understanding of ground water remediation systems and methodologies and the various techniques and technologies used, including physical removal, chemical treatment and biological processes.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with both clients and project team members.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism.
  • Ability to travel regionally and locally as required for proposal and project needs (up to 50%).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, environmental engineering, or related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in a similar field or industry.
  • Experience or exposure to data interpretation and analysis of systems to define and ensure data collected is accurate, reliable, and suitable for the intended purpose.
  • Past experience using statistical methods and tools to identify trends and patterns in data and assess the extent and severity of ground water contamination, evaluated the effectiveness of remediation technologies, and monitored the long-term site conditions.
  • Valid US driver's license and good driving record.
  • Where lawful, may require post-employment drug testing based on client needs and requirements.

Preferred:

  • 40-Hr HAZWOPER training
  • Already licensed or within one year, eligible to take the exam for EIT/GIT in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, or Tennessee.

Position will primarily work in an office setting but will require some field work. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Extended hours and schedules may be necessary to fit project demands.
