Painter Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Painter to join our team on the 1st shift, supporting the construction industry. This role involves sanding steel, priming with pneumatic spray guns, labeling and verifying inventory parts for customers. The steel parts include beams, trusses, columns, stairs, and handrails. You may also be required to operate CNC machines, plasma tables, assist in the yard, and use overhead cranes and forklifts as needed. The ideal candidate is someone with painting experience, eager to learn, has a positive attitude, and is committed to showing up to work every day. Responsibilities Sand steel, creating dust as part of the preparation process. Prime steel using pneumatic spray guns. Label and double-check inventory parts for customers. Operate CNC machines, plasma tables, and assist in the yard as necessary. Use overhead cranes and forklifts as needed. Perform final visual inspections on pieces before shipment. Adapt to various tasks beyond painting duties. Essential Skills 1+ years of experience in industrial or residential spray painting. Ability to stand for the duration of the shift and perform physical tasks such as stooping, crawling, bending, and climbing. Attention to detail for performing final visual inspections. Comfortable with dust and paint fumes; respirators are available. Team player and adaptable to different tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with forklift operation. Work Environment Work in a small, family-run shop with approximately 15 employees. The environment is not climate-controlled and can get hot in the summer, with occasional paint fumes. The team values flexibility and a willingness to take on varied tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Elkhart, Indiana. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
