My client is a highly regarded Commercial General Construction outfit that seeks a Construction Estimator. Duties include: This position will focus on a wide range of renovation and new construction projects including corporate offices, banking, retail, industrial, health care, senior living facilities and religious and educational institutions. This position requires experience in conceptual estimating, quantity take off, budget development, and the purchasing/negotiating of subcontracts.
Candidates for this position must be capable of the following:
Ability to build a full conceptual cost estimate from architectural sketches.
(5) to (10) years of commercial construction estimating experience absolutely required. College degree preferred.
Excellent people and communication skills and the ability to forge and build relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
Experience in developing and implementing value engineering solutions to drive down project costs for the Owner while maintaining a high level of construction quality.
Experience in coordinating with the architect, structural engineer, civil engineer, and MEP engineers to determine cost effective solutions during the design process.
Experience with pre-bid walk throughs and meetings, including compiling walk through notes and taking pictures of the project.
Ability to descope subcontractor proposals and negotiate pricing, buy out projects, and award subcontracts.
Capable of writing detailed scopes of work for construction contracts to be implemented by the field operations team.
Experience in creating preliminary construction schedules.
Ability to coordinate the scopes of work of multiple trades to ensure nothing is missed for the project team.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to compose and oversee the distribution of RFPs, RFIs, emails and other correspondence related to project estimates and proposals.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple, concurrent projects and aggressive deadlines.
Exceptional problem solving, organizational, and time management skills with high level of attention to detail.
Team player with a positive attitude who can also work independently, is self-motivated and success driven, yet able and willing to take direction.
