Mechanical Design Engineer - Broomfield, CO Location: Broomfield, Colorado The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for mechanical and electromechanical research, design, development and integration of Swisslog Healthcare products and technology.

This individual will maintain technical documentation of PTS (pneumatic tube system) and pharmacy automation product lines. Meet performance objectives including schedule, cost, reliability, manufacturability and serviceability of engineered components and products.

The MDE designs, develops, modifies and tests mechanical and electro-mechanical parts, products and systems, applying principles and techniques of mechanical engineering. Responsible for creation of CAD models and design of plastic injected parts, sheet metal parts, housings, mechanisms and assemblies. Creates required technical documentation defining the parts and products for pharmacy automation and PTS product lines. Plans, schedules and coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work as a part of a project. Your collaboration
  • Mechanical and electromechanical R&D including practical research.
  • Mechatronic and mechanical engineering requiring independent judgment.
  • Development of design concepts, prototypes and production versions of products.
  • Owns product specifications, procedures and test plans.
  • Design verification testing of new and current assemblies or products.
  • Troubleshooting of mechanical assemblies and parts.
  • Part selection for new designs and replacements for current designs.
  • Analysis and measurement of assemblies and products for various performance parameters.
  • Functional expertise in CAD and CAE processes and tools.
  • Assist with development and management of subcontractors or outside firms.
  • Sustain product lines as necessary, including developing and accessing product concepts, changes, improvements or deficiencies.
  • Reviews product quality issues internally and/or with customers.
  • Improves or implements product data management systems.
  • Selects and specifies appropriate vendors and suppliers for best cost, quality and delivery of products and services.
  • Provides cost estimates for approval by management for assigned projects.
  • Works with manufacturing and procurement to develop plans for production.
  • Remains informed of engineering and/or manufacturing processes or product technologies that may impact past, current or planned products.
  • Prepare project report and develops statements of work for internal and/or external use.
  • Release new or revised parts and assemblies into PLM system by means of ECNs.
  • Own and resolve Tier 3 technical issues related to all mechanical and electromechanical assemblies.
Your competence Minimum Job Qualifications:
BS of Engineering in Mechanical Design. 10+ years of previous mechanical engineering work experience. Ability to articulate complex technical concepts, both written and verbally. Computer skills in MS Office Suite. Ability to work in groups and communicate effectively with others. Self-motivated. Autodesk Inventor (CAD) Experience.
Desirable, but not Essential:
Six Sigma green belt / black belt. Expert in one or more areas of mechanical design. Experience with the health care industry. Experience with transport automation. Experience with system design. Experience with CREO or Solid Works design suites.

Salary range for this position is $85,000 - $105,000. Salary will be commensurate with experience and skillset. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical / dental / vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, disability, 401k matching (up to 8%).
