The Coating Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of surface preparation and coating activities. This includes supervising blasters, painters, and technicians, ensuring adherence to safety, quality standards, and project schedules. The Coating Supervisor ensures the correct application of coatings according to job specifications, performs field leadership, monitors supply levels, and collaborates with project management, QA/QC, and safety teams to achieve efficient and compliant project execution.
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:**
+ Supervise coatings crew in blasting, coating and operations on assigned projects.
+ Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies, procedures and customer specifications.
+ Monitor coating processes and application techniques to ensure quality and efficiency.
+ Ensure that equipment is properly maintained, used, and stored.
+ Coordinate daily work schedules and crew assignments with project managers.
+ Quality & Compliance
+ Support QA/QC personnel with inspections and process controls.
+ Report any non-conformance or process deviations.
+ Assist with preparation and execution of audits and documentation as required.
+ Communication & Leadership
+ Lead pre-job and toolbox meetings to reinforce expectations for safety, quality, and performance.
+ Mentor and train crew members on coating procedures and safe work practices.
+ Resolve onsite personnel issues or escalate as needed to management.
+ Inventory & Documentation
+ Maintain accurate records of coating activities, production data, and safety documentation.
+ Monitor inventory levels of paint, blasting media, and PPE; submit requisitions as needed.
+ Ensure documentation is completed accurately for job files and audits.
+ Additional Duties
+ Perform or assist in periodic safety and quality audits.
+ Support estimation and quoting for small-scale projects under manager guidance.
+ Other responsibilities as assigned by Coatings Manager or General Manager.
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:**
+ Prior field supervisory experience is required.
+ Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Coating Supervision, Industrial and Marine Coatings
+ Experience supervising coating scopes in offshore, marine, industrial, chemical or commercial land-based oil and
gas industry environments.
+ Strong understanding and knowledge of coating materials, processes, application methods and industry standards.
+ Interpretation and understanding technical documents, PDSs, SDSs, safety manuals, policy, procedures and project specifications.
+ High school Diploma or GED required; Additional technical training or certifications (e.g. NACE/AMPP, SSPC) a plus.
+ Computer literacy in basic word processing, excel, email and reporting systems.
+ Committed to safe work practices and promoting safety culture across project teams.
+ Experience in industry standard equipment, safe operations, trouble shooting, maintenance and repairs.
+ Strong problem-solving skills.

**ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:**
+ Capable of carrying out strenuous, repetitive, or tedious work often in adverse conditions (heat, cold, wind, extreme height, darkness, etc.) and often for extended periods of time.
+ Frequent carrying, pushing and pulling motions while completing work tasks or managing tools/equipment is to be expected. Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasional lifting up to 60 lbs. without assistance.
