Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an outstanding Mechanical Engineer with aerospace experience who has demonstrated the ability to complete tasks effectively and efficiently. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing 3D and 2D mechanical designs and conducting related analyses specifically for payload satellite systems using Siemens NX. This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering suited for both prototype and production-level designs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D and 2D mechanical designs for payload satellite systems using Siemens NX.
  • Conduct analyses related to mechanical designs.
  • Participate in design and development of hardware at scale, focusing on high-end optics and precision mechanisms.
  • Specify and justify margins and test sequences for qualifying space systems.
  • Perform GD&T and tolerance analysis.
  • Engage in design for manufacturing and manufacturing process development.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs.
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors and solicit feedback from operators.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience with CAD.
  • 5+ years of experience in design and development of hardware at scale.
  • 7+ years of experience in aerospace systems development, testing, and deployment.
  • Experience specifying and justifying margins and test sequences for space systems.
  • Proficiency in GD&T and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing and manufacturing process development.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in design, qualification, and volume production of PCBA enclosures for spacecraft.
  • Experience with NX and TeamCenter.
  • Ability to lead interdisciplinary discussions among Hardware, Reliability, and Firmware teams.
  • Experience with issue tracking applications such as JIRA and TRAC.
  • Strong time and task management skills with attention to detail.
  • Capability to provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
Work Environment

This position requires working onsite in Redmond. The role offers an opportunity to build credibility and experience, potentially leading to longer-term opportunities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
