Cordoba Corporation is a leading civil engineering and design firm based in California. We seek a Safety Manager to support the Education Sector. This position involves oversight of construction activity on behalf of the client, report on contractor regulatory and contract safety compliance. The role requires travel to project sites, good communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of managing multiple projects in different stages of construction and 10 years of experience in construction safety.
Responsibilities- Monitor compliance to all current OSHA requirements that relate to the specific construction projects.
- Perform daily safety reviews of work in progress in accordance with current Safety Regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as developed and updated by the client.
- Monitor adherence to Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) requirements and procedures.
- Support to the Program Safety Manager, including but not limited to, attending any required meetings, or providing safety reports/analysis as requested.
- Attend construction meeting with college project team and general contractor. Leading the safety topic (toolbox), report on site observations (Observation Report) and review upcoming construction schedule for hazard preparedness.
- Perform ongoing construction site safety inspections and generate daily safety report for all site visits.
- Submit weekly Project Health Safety and Environmental Observation Report to College Project Manager.
- Perform ongoing review, for completion and accuracy, of contractor safety submittals, JHA, MOP, Fall Protection Plans, Crane Lift Plans, Excavation and Scaffold Erecting Plans, Confined Space Entry and hazard assessment of other high-risk operations.
- Perform review of contractor submitted incident reports, participate in safety stand-downs, and prepare and submit lessons learned to Program Safety Manager.
- Perform and document safety orientation with contractor safety representative.
- Monitor adherence to zero tolerance and corrective action policy for workers found not in compliance with the Programs safety policy.
- Flexibility in schedule and transportation to work at multiple sites based on assigned schedule and duties throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment, establish daily work priorities, and perform oversight at multiple active construction projects.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction safety.
- Minimum 5 years of managing multiple projects in different stages of construction at multiple jobsite locations.
- Minimum 5 years field experience as Construction Safety Consultant working with General Contractors and Subcontractors.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with OCIP.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with DSA.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with Safety Management for Public Sector Construction.
- Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER.
- Current OSHA 500 (Trainer in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry)
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
- Minimum of holding a valid Safety Management Specialist (SMS) certificate issued by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) or Certified Safety Manager Construction (CSMC) certificate issued by the National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP)
- Proficiency with Microsoft office and related spreadsheet and database software.
Preferred
- Construction management, safety management, safety engineer or related degree is preferred.
- Experience on modernization-type projects involving asbestos and lead-based paint disturbance.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with senior safety management with large building programs across multiple sites.
- Additional safety/health certifications and credentials as appropriate for this position.
Salary Range: $105,000 to $115,000 per year.
