For more than 30 years, AtkinsRealis has set up a bridges and engineering department in Canada dedicated to providing engineering services for bridges, tunnels and engineering structures. Over the years, this department has enabled professionals (engineers, technicians) to achieve a career in this field and to develop expertise in the various activities related to bridges, such as design, inspection, technical assistance and monitoring, carrying out specific studies and this for all types of structures from the smallest to the largest. Also, over the years, the involvement of the management team has contributed to the development and advancement of the profession. This in order to offer expertise and professional services that meet the different current and future needs of different property owners.

The Bridges department operates mainly in the Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Quebec area. In addition, it also carries out international projects.

The Bridges Department in Central region is looking for a Structural Engineering Team Lead (Bridges).

Reporting to the Manager Bridges Central, the Structural Engineering Team Lead (Bridges) is responsible for leading, accompanying, supporting and guiding the employees (engineers and technicians) of his or her team, as well as collaborating with other team leaders and other AtkinsRealis units. The team leader will be responsible for developing the expertise of teams for activities related to structural inspection and asset management, but may be involved in other engineering services.

Your role within the team

Support the Bridges Central (10-20%)

  • Ensure and develop clients relations . Participate actively in various business and technical committees .
  • The development of the team they supervise and other teams. Maintaining, adjusting and reviewing practices and procedures.
  • Planning and resource allocation. Maintaining links with the various owners of works.
  • Collaboration between teams and directorates. Preparation and supervision of professional service offerings.
  • The establishment of security, computer, inspection, office and other equipment for carrying out activities.
  • Management of financial and material resources.

Manage the staff of the team he supervises (15-20%)

  • Transmit the company's values and practices to employees and ensure their respect.
  • Promote a healthy, safe and supportive work environment.
  • Maintain a climate conducive to the application of ethical and professional practices in the performance of work.
  • Support employees in their development. Participate in the establishment of staff needs and the hiring of staff. Participate in the development of employee objectives. Conduct employee performance evaluations.
  • Accompany employees (project manager, engineer and technician) in the realization of their project .

Ensure the management of projects to be carried out (35-75%)

  • Plan and mobilize staff to ensure the completion of mandates and projects.
  • Accompany and support employees so that the services rendered meet corporate requirements and those of customers.
  • Ensure that deliverables before they are sent meet corporate and client requirements.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and compliance with the services offered, deliverables, budgets and deadlines.

Carry out technical activities of project activities (5%-30%)

  • Design, inspections, conducting studies.
  • Development of estimates, estimation schedule.
  • Proof of concept, verification.
  • Collaborate with other units that require support from your team.
  • Carry out various support activities.

The ideal candidate

  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structures. Master's or doctoral asset in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structures. Master's degree in Project Management or PMP Certification. Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • 10+ years of experience in the implementation of projects in engineering structures. Management and development of a technical team in the field of engineering structures for at least 10 years.
  • Have assumed the role of project manager, carried out and actively participated in large-scale projects in engineering structures.
  • Leadership, professionalism, integrity and excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent ability to communicate, respond and interact with customers.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written). Other languages (French, Spanish) an asset.
