Senior Quantity Surveyor

Carmichael UK is recruiting on behalf of a Tier 1 contractor for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of a major highways infrastructure scheme in Norfolk. This is a key commercial role that will see you involved in procurement, subcontract management, and commercial reporting with the autonomy to make decisions, and the support of established processes and systems. Role Overview: You will be a driving force in ensuring commercial excellence across this complex infrastructure package, working closely with both site and commercial teams. Key Responsibilities: Full responsibility for subcontract procurement, packages, and payment cycles Administering NEC contracts - including compensation events and early warnings Day-to-day subcontractor management, including valuations, variations, and final accounts Producing and updating commercial reports for senior management Managing change control and risk mitigation Working independently but within the commercial structure of the wider team Supporting the Commercial Manager and mentoring junior staff where required Essential Requirements: Demonstrable experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large infrastructure or highways projects Strong understanding of NEC contracts Excellent procurement and subcontract management skills Proactive, self-sufficient, and able to follow established procedures Strong communication and commercial reporting skills Comfortable with hybrid working arrangements Working Arrangements: Hybrid role: Initially 2 days/week in Bedford, moving to 3 days/week in Norwich when the office relocates Remaining days remote or on-site as required by project needs
