Solid Waste Operator

The Sullivan County Department of Public Works is seeking to fill the following position:

SOLID WASTE OPERATOR

Employees in this class perform manual duties in the operation of a solid waste transfer station, waste, trailer/container exchange and recycling processing and materials recovery facility, weigh scales, operation of trucks over 26,000 lb. G.V.W and equipment. Specific directions are provided with incumbent being responsible for independent judgment to provide for the safe and efficient accomplishment of tasks. Supervision of others is a responsibility of this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two (2) years of experience in solid waste and solid waste/recycling equipment or two (2) years of experience in construction operations and construction equipment with demonstrated competency in the operation of trucks over 26,000 lb. G.V.W.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT: Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License with either an A or B Classification (CDL-A or CDL-B).

Salary: Entry: $31.0195/hour
