Building Engineer - Contract to Hire

Location: Austin, TX

Pay: $26.00-$30.00/hour (DOE)

Employment Type: Full-time | Contract-to-Hire

We are seeking an experienced Building Engineer with a strong background in commercial office property maintenance to support the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems in the Austin area. This role will focus on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC responsibilities to ensure optimal performance of building systems and exceptional service to tenants and ownership.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
• Operate, monitor, and adjust systems such as chillers, boilers, pumps, AHUs, RTUs, and air compressors
• Respond to tenant work orders and make timely repairs to building fixtures, appliances, and infrastructure
• Assist in water treatment programs and maintain accurate operational logs and documentation
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions, escalating as needed
• Ensure minimal disruption to building services during maintenance
• Support energy efficiency and protection of owner assets
• Maintain a professional, service-oriented relationship with tenants, contractors, and team

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC, Chillers, AHUs, and RTUs
• Experience in commercial office buildings required
• High school diploma or GED
• Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently
• Ability to read and interpret building plans and system schematics
• Reliable, team-oriented, and customer-focused
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
