Forklift Operator and Material Handler Job Description The role involves loading and unloading trucks, pulling materials from inventory to production lines, and preparing them for shipping. As you progress, you will receive cross-training in various areas of the shop, including warehouse cleaning and machine operation. Pay: $19-21 Responsibilities Load and unload trucks efficiently. Pull materials from inventory for production lines or shipping preparation. Receive cross-training for different areas within the shop. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the warehouse. Operate machinery as required. Essential Skills Proficiency in operating sit-down forklifts. Experience in forklift and warehouse operations. Ability to drive and handle inventory. General labor and material handling skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications 1+ year of experience with sit-down forklifts, preferably within the metals industry. 6+ months of material handling experience. Comfortable with moving large, irregularly shaped materials. Capability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work at a small metal distributor with approximately 12 team members. The facility is climate-controlled, ensuring a comfortable environment. The workspace is organized with ample walking areas to accommodate metal rods up to 15 feet long. Expect some noise from metal cutting saws. The role is primarily on the 2nd shift from 2pm to 10pm, Monday to Friday, with two 15-minute paid breaks. Initial training occurs on the 1st shift from 6am to 2:30pm. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
