JMT is currently seeking an Electrical Construction Inspector to carry out Construction Management and Inspection Services in the New York Metropolitan area. Projects may include public housing, education, airport, rail/transportation and/or other public building projects. Experience should include inspection of various building systems and/or electrical equipment/systems such as electric motors, power distribution, emergency generators, electrical switchgear, distribution panels, fire alarm systems, disconnect switches, conduit, wiring, and HVAC controls/building management systems (BMS). This position is not eligible for employer based sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification.
Compensation for this position is $79,040.00 - $93,600.00, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), special inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work
- Identify potential extra work issues and keep the Resident Engineer/PM advised of potential issues
- Prepare estimates of extra work and related sketches and documentation
- Review plans for constructability and prepare comments
- Review contractor payment requests and provide comments to the Resident Engineer/PM
Required Skills
- Working knowledge of the latest Building Codes.
- Willingness to learn and an ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written. Verbal communication includes speaking with the Resident Engineer, other contract staff, and facility staff both in person via two-way communication.
