Randstad is assisting an Alberta Construction Leader in commercial and Institutional projects with a search for a new Superintendent to take over a project in progress. The Superintendent is responsible for the overall field supervision of commercial and institutional construction projects. This role involves managing all on-site activities, including the coordination of subcontractors, scheduling, quality control, and the enforcement of safety protocols. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a proven track record of bringing projects in on time and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. You will be the key person on-site, ensuring the project's vision is executed flawlessly from groundbreaking to final handover. The current project will require travel to the site that is 2 hours from Calgary.

Responsibilities
Project Execution & Scheduling: Direct and control the total field effort to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the design, budget, and schedule. Develop, maintain, and drive the project schedule in collaboration with the Project Manager.
Subcontractor & Trade Management: Supervise, coordinate, and schedule all on-site trade activities and deliveries. Resolve day-to-day field issues and conflicts among trades.
Quality Control: Ensure all work is performed to the highest standards of quality, adhering to contract specifications, drawings, and building codes. Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Safety Leadership: Champion Lear's safety culture on-site. Implement and enforce the project-specific safety plan to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel, in compliance with OHS regulations. Conduct regular safety meetings and site inspections.
Site Administration: Complete and submit daily construction reports, site photos, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
Client & Consultant Relations: Serve as the primary on-site contact for the client and consultants. Maintain positive, professional relationships and ensure clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial or institutional construction projects valued at $5M or more. Experience with renovations and new builds is essential.
Education: A diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is an asset. A combination of relevant education and extensive field experience will be considered.
Certifications:
Journeyman Carpenter (Red Seal) certification is highly preferred.
Gold Seal Certification (GSC) is a strong asset.
Required safety certifications include: Standard First Aid (Level C), WHMIS 2015, and Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE).
Technical Skills:
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and materials.
Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Leadership & Communication:
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of tradespeople.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
